VICE Media partnered with National Urban League to provide Black businesses with pro bono media campaigns for their socials. The Black+ 2023 class featured WHENSMOKECLEARS, PerryCo. Shoes, Body Butter Lady and Southern Roots Vegan Bakery.
WHENSMOKECLEARS
WHENSMOKECLEARS was launched in 2016 by Thermal Taveras and K$ace. The brand consists of ready-to-wear genderless clothing, jewelry and footwear. To showcase the various facets of their brand, we’re using portrait photography in a collage style and a reel to highlight the brand's core values.
PerryCo. Shoes
PerryCo. Shoes was founded by Brittney Perry with the intention of changing the perception of the sneaker industry. Today's world is ever-changing; striving towards equality for all. At PerryCo, they pride themselves in being a unisex brand. They are breaking gender barriers while delivering high-quality, wearable versatility and style. To showcase the style, comfort and versatility of their brand, we’re using portrait photography and a reel.
Body Butter Lady
Body Butter Lady is a vegan skincare brand. They started as a home-based business making products from their kitchen. Now, they have a brick and mortar and manufacturing facility in the heart of downtown Inglewood, CA. In this social campaign, we’ll focus on the turmeric based products for the body butters, body scrubs and soaps for the photography and banner ads.
Southern Roots Vegan Bakery
Southern Roots is a gourmet vegan bakery specializing in recreating southern classics with a plant based twist. They ship nationwide, create custom corporate packages and wholesale. They have been nominated Best Vegan Bakery in the country for the last two years. Using Southern Roots current brand assets, we will create banner ads and a reel to showcase the bakery experience, how tasty their treats
are and highlight their brand ethos.
